International Bases

At Arquitectura con Madera we are focused on promoting the growth and improvement of society by promoting sustainability throughout the value chain, thereby demonstrating our commitment to sustainable development.

In the face of global climate, environmental, social and economic challenges, in 2015, the United Nations issued a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that commit countries to seek their own growth, respecting fundamental rights such as equity and inclusion, with a deadline of 2030.

Arquitectura con Madera actively contributes to 13 of the 17 SDGs.

3 Health and Wellness.

We are committed to encouraging, within our organization and with those who wish to collaborate with us, the care of our staff through fair working conditions. In addition, we are committed to protecting the environment through socially responsible and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices.

4 Quality Education.

We will train professionals within the construction value chain to adopt wood construction models so that they can carry out their work in an informed, ethical, sustainable and safer manner.

5 Gender Equality.

People's gender should not be relevant to the performance of a task, which is why we will promote work environments that focus exclusively on the development and performance of employees. We need both men and women to carry out this radical change in the industry.

6 Clean Water and Sanitation.

As a logical consequence of the improvements proposed by this construction system, we have the development of forests, which leads to a better and greater capture of water in the subsoil. In addition, the transformation of wood requires a smaller amount of water than any other construction material.

Affordable and non-polluting energy.

8 Decent Work and Economic Growth.

By promoting a new way of building, we contribute to the creation of new and better jobs, which proves that things can always be done better.

9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

Wood construction has the potential to improve industry processes, workshop practices, implemented technology and, in general, the ways in which the construction market operates.

10 Reduction of Inequalities.

We seek to promote decent working conditions and improve opportunities throughout the value chain.

11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Cities and societies benefit from implementing new and better ways of working in construction, both socially and environmentally and economically. We seek to lead the transformation towards sustainable communities through construction practices that respect these three areas.

12 Responsible Production and Consumption.

Sustainable practices associated with wood construction involve consuming only the resources that are necessary, since these are trees. In this way, awareness of the environmental responsibility that this process entails is also fostered.

13 Climate Action.

By improving practices in the value chain, we contribute significantly to the global fight against global warming. We mitigate climate change by reducing the carbon footprint in construction and safely storing carbon in wooden structures.

Life below water.

15 Life of Terrestrial Ecosystems.

We support biodiversity and the health of terrestrial ecosystems by promoting sustainable forest management practices and building with certified wood.

16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

We embrace transparency and responsibility in our practices, contributing to the construction of fair and solid societies.

17 Partnerships to Achieve the Goals.

Of course, there is no way we can achieve this by working alone. There is a huge global awareness of what is right, and at Arquitectura con Madera, we collaborate with an extensive network of people around the world who share our vision and act responsibly and sustainably.

The other SDGs are:

1.- End poverty.
2.- Zero hunger.
7.- Affordable and clean energy.
14.- Life below water.

Although our movement is not directly involved in the promotion of these 4 SDGs, we believe in the importance of making them visible so that each person can contribute to their achievement.
